Being a small businessman involved with employment provides Todd Royer a view of career development, personal decision-making and people struggling to understand their emotions. In 2001 Mr. Royer founded DiscoveryTech, a technical recruiting firm specializing in consumer products and materials research. The creation and growth of DiscoveryTech, is the culmination of an entire career in small business.

As a marketing tool, Mr. Royer writes and publishes a weekly newsletter, “Career Development Weekly.” The articles regularly address matters of personal growth for the larger goal of career building. Started in 2004, the newsletter is widely distributed among R&D departments in consumer products companies. One offshoot of writing this newsletter is that clients and job candidates frequently discuss how they evaluate hiring decisions. Some of the material for “Reading Minds with Feelings” first came to light during these discussions.
